While fluid painting doesn't require many supplies, there are a few things that you will want to get started.

Many of these supplies are easy to find at a local arts and crafts store, and you can even find many of these supplies at a discount store. I was able to get all of these supplies at my local Wal-Mart when I was getting started.

• Apron or painting clothes
  You don’t want to ruin your nice clothes!
• Canvas
  I recommend 1-2 canvases that are either 12”x12” or 8”x10”. Do not go too large until you have gained confidence in the techniques. I recommend getting a “stretched” canvas instead of a panel as they can sometimes warp from the extra moisture involved in fluid painting.
• Gloves
  Nitrile or vinyl gloves are helpful to keep your hands clean.
• Disposable cups
  Paper or plastic will work fine. You will need 5-6 to start.
• Disposable tablecloth
  Make sure to protect the surface that you’re painting on.
• Paper towels
  It's always wise to have paper towels on hand in case of a spill.
• Paints*
  See the note below on buying or mixing your “pour paints.” You will want to get a base color (I recommend white to start) and 3-4 additional colors for your first painting.

*You have two options when it comes to paints: you can buy pre-mixed “pouring paints” or you can mix your own. Both options are great, although most people find that they ultimately want to mix their own paints for various reasons. The only premixed paint I recommend is "Artist Loft Ready Mixed Pouring Paint" which you can buy at Michaels, and you can sometimes find on Amazon. If you choose to mix your own paints, there is a bonus lesson after this that will explain how to mix them and the supplies needed for that.

What you won't need:

• You won't need paintbrushes for any of these techniques.
• You won't need an easel since the paintings will dry flat.
• You won't need a painting palette for these techniques.

There you go! It's not a large list, and many of these items can be reused between your painting sessions.
